Gina & Fady
St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Washington DC · Fairfax, Virginia
Gina and Fady were married at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Washington DC on May 26, 2024, and it was one of the sweetest weddings I have ever photographed. For me, Fairfax Coptic wedding photography means staying close to every prayer without ever getting in the way of one, and their day reminded me why that matters so much.
Like every wedding, Gina and Fady’s began with a conversation. Sitting down with a couple to talk through their day is one of my favorite parts of what I do. I am usually on the quieter side, but when a couple starts describing the decor they picked, the details they care about, the shots they have been dreaming of and the overall vibe they want, I get genuinely excited. Listening closely in those conversations is how I learn what matters most to them, so that on the day itself I already know where to look.
What stood out about Gina and Fady from the very beginning was how sweet they were with each other, and that tenderness carried through the entire wedding. It was there the moment Gina reached the altar and lifted her veil, and it stayed with them through the Coptic service, the signing and the crowning. A ceremony like this is full of ritual, and I treat every part of it with care and respect, moving quietly and giving each moment the space it deserves. Sitting side by side in their crowns, Gina and Fady looked like two people who could hardly believe their day had finally come.
Heartfelt words after the ceremony at St. Mark
What made the day so memorable came later, when Gina’s sister and parents stood up to speak. The speeches that stay with me are never the polished ones, they are the ones where you can hear a whole life in a few sentences, and that is exactly what these were. Listening to Gina’s family, you could feel how much love had gone into raising her and how much hope they had for this marriage. It was pure, raw emotion, and I was moved right along with everyone else in the room.
By the time Gina and Fady shared their first dance and cut the cake, the whole room was full of joy. I treat every couple I work with like family, and on a day like this one that is easy to do. My hope is always that a couple’s wedding feels magical while it is happening and memorable for the rest of their lives, and Gina and Fady’s special day was both.
